Not on your Nelly

Where on earth does that expression come from? I know it means ‘not gonna happen’. I feel a google coming on . . .

Every day is a school day 🙂

After my last post i decided not to go to the gym as the rain started pouring down and I thought I might do a DVD instead. It had been about 2 years since the last time I properly attempted Nell, and I found it sooo exhausting, so I thought it was about time I tried again. Hence the post title!

The location of the DVD was pretty good too, it was clearly a gorgeous day and the pool was nice. I prefer outdoor filmed fitness DVDs for some reason. This DVD is really hard, even the warm-up is hard but it’s pretty good for incorporating weight/resistance training in with cardio, I know I’ll be sore tomorrow. I skipped the upper body resistance session as my shoulder doesn’t like it. Though I did enough lunges and squats to have me walking like an old lady for a few days so that’s ok!

Lunch followed, I only felt like some toast and marmite, usually I want a lot more. I slept in today though and so breakfast wasn’t until half 10. I had this lunch at 2

Dinner was at 6- Sweet potato fries, sweetcorn and cod in batter.

I cooked 1 huge sweet potato so I have the other half for tomorrow’s lunch.

I missed my morning snack because of timings so I will probably have a big dessert in a wee while which will most likely be frozen yoghurt and strawberries.

My eats today are lacking in the veg department. I have plenty of fruit in the flat but I am pretty much out of veg. I am headed tesco ways tomorrow to pick up some things so I will be sure to pick up some veggie goodness.

I like to eat through the day so my main meal is still somewhere between 5 and 6 no matter what time I get up. I’m not sure why this is though! What do you do if you lie-in? Do you stick to the same numbers of meals and snacks as normal or skip one? I hope it’s been sunny where you are, we’ve had rain all day but it’s supposed to sunny tomorrow and I’m getting my hair done 🙂

    So glad you’re in on the core challenge 🙂
    I love frozen yoghurt, the ben and jerrys stuff is gorgeous but only when it’s on offer haha!

      Mmm Ben and Jerries Cherry Garcia is my favourite but they don’t sell it here. In fact the one pictured is the only one that’s sold in my town. I have a freezer bag though so I may get some B&J next time I’m in the city 🙂

    For some reason I couldn’t see any frozen yoghurt in the shops today, I didn’t have a proper look mind just a quick scan of the ben and jerrys! Hope you enjoy getting your hair done! x

    Young’s Cod fillets are my guilty pleasure!! 😉

    If I have a lie-in, I try to eat something soon after I get up, though make it quite small if it’s close to a ‘regular mealtime’ – just to kick start my systems. Not sure if that actually works though. I don’t try to catch up on the meals I’ve missed, because I figure I don’t have as much time in which to burn off the calories!

    Sorry for chipping in at random! I found your blog and was inspired by you having a similar reason for your health-kick as me 🙂

    Your sweet potato fries look lovely!

    I’m going to dig my nell dvd out soon, i remember how hard it was to follow – she really works you hard (what i would give for her figure though!)

      Do you have the same one as me? I have one in a red box too but don’t remember lking that one at all. It’s the endless squats that my knees don’t like!

    When I sleep in (like every weekend :D) I eat less during, I think. I don’t need as much food in the first 5-6 hours of the day and only get more hungry in the late afternoon / early evening.

    Sunny? I haven’t seen the sun in days! 😦 but maybe it’s get better.. at least I can see that the snow is melting and that’s a sure sign of spring! 🙂
